In 2024, I co-wrote my first children's book, What in the World Is Ezra's Art?, with Shay Fan, illustrated by Tara Han-Tran Johnson. It follows a seven-year-old named Ezra who loves making art that his parents, teachers, and classmates don't quite understand, and has to decide whether he can still feel good about his art when no one else does.

I wrote it because of where kids are growing up right now. In a world where an AI model can generate a finished, polished image in seconds, I worry it gets harder for a child to see the value in their own messy, unpolished, entirely human creative process, the one that doesn't look impressive yet but is actually the whole point. Ezra's story is my attempt to protect that instinct before the world talks a kid out of it. It's also for the parents and teachers standing next to that kid: the book comes with a built-in activity guide meant to help adults respond to a child's art with curiosity instead of correction, and support the version of creativity that's actually theirs, not the version that looks the most finished.
